BAWON KRIMINÈL

Baron Kriminèl is a face, or aspect of Baron Samedi. He is the face of Baron that pursues and punishes criminals. He’s mean; He’s terrifying; and He’s exactly what He needs to be to do His job. 

Kriminel is a terrifying Individual\Spirit and should be respected above all else.

Baron Kriminèl is a much feared Loa in Haitian Vaudoo. He is envisioned as a murderer who has been condemned to death, and is invoked to pronounce swift judgment.

When a person becomes possessed by Baron Kriminel they shout obscenities, spit and try to stab surrounding people...

If, during possession, Baron Kriminel is presented with food he does not like, he will try to ................. the possessed person.

He sometimes calls for sacrifices of black chickens to be doused in petrol or oil and set alight...

His colours include black, purple, white and deep blood red.

Baron Kriminel will often grant requests in lieu of later payment, he is said to return on Fete Ghede, or the Vaudoo Day of the Dead, to claim his payment in full.. Hmm...

Baron Kriminel (“Baron of Criminals”) is the enforcer of the Guede. He was the first person to kill another (probably Nibo). As the first murderer, he is master of those who murder or use violence to harm others. Families of murder victims and the abused pray to him to get revenge on those who wronged them. His “horses” have an insatiable appetite and will attack people until they are offered food. If it doesn’t please them or takes too long, they will bite and chew on anyone nearby (or even themselves) until they are sated. His saint counterpart is  St. Martin de Porres, perhaps because his feast day is November 3, the day after Fete Guede. He is sacrificed black roosters that have been bound, doused with strong spirit, and then set alight.
